Two-thirds of Australian adults are overweight or obese and more than half do not meet the current physical activity guidelines. What we urgently need is a national physical activity strategy.
Our Move More Sit Less study showed that people who move more and sit less throughout the day are happier, healthier and more productive. Instead of worrying about whether we have spent the required amount of time exercising each day, we need to find ways to make being active easy, to make movement the default position and not just something we need a daily dose of.
